On the day, thousands of schools around the
world take lessons outdoors; so far this year,
18,657 schools and 1,773,681 children have
been involved. Outdoor learning improves
children’s health, engages them with learning
and leads to a greater connection with nature.
Play not only teaches critical life skills such as
resilience, teamwork and creativity, but is
central to children’s enjoyment of childhood.
Following the 2017 Outdoor Classroom Day,
44% of surveyed primary school teachers had
increased their outdoor lesson time, having
discovered that children’s concentration and
creativity was noticeably improved. We think
our photos speak for themselves!
