“Save a Life” Scheme
June / July 2018
This is a project being promoted by South Central
Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust and there has been
significant local input by Thames Valley Police and the
Hazlemere Fete. Many local companies, organisations
and individuals have made financial contributions and
provided support. There are a few simple steps you
can take now to familiarise yourself with the scheme:-
1. Go to the South Central Ambulance website (www.
scas.nhs.uk) and download the “Save a Life” App.
2. Familiarise yourself on how to use a defibrillator
using the short videos on the above website or the
British Heart Foundation website (www.bhf.org.uk)
3. Familiarise yourself with local defibrillators (with
access times) by referring to the list below. We have
only listed those within approx. 2 miles of Hazlemere

Penn Pond Waders Golf Society
A large party of ‘Waders’ have recently returned from a short
break tour to Northern Spain where our members enjoyed the
fabulous courses at PGA Catalunya and Emporda Golf Club.
Congratulations to Paul Talbott who won the overall
tournament and to Barry Milner who won the Par 3
competition. The individual winners over the 3 days of the
tour were Barry Milner, Paul Talbott and Kevin Croxon.
On Friday 25th May, we visited Calcot Park GC, one of our
favourite venues in Berkshire. A new venue follows on Weds
27th June when we will head to The Shires Golf Club. On
Friday 20th July we will be playing at the wonderful
Camberley Heath Golf Club.
As advised in our last update, our Captain’s Charity Golf
Day last December at Ashridge Golf Club helped us to
raise £4,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The next Hazlemere Fete will be on August
Bank Holiday Monday 27th August 2018 in
the grounds of Sir William Ramsay School.
Doors open 12 Noon until 5 pm with fun for
all the family, in support of charities and
good causes. Thank you to those volunteers
who have stepped forward to help but we
could still use more help and you can

Association
SPRING FLOWER SHOW: We held our Spring
show at the Hazlemere Community Centre
on Saturday 14th April. We had a successful
show and although the number of entries
was down due to the cold and wet Spring
weather, the quality remained high across
the divisions. Cllr Milly Roberts (Chairman
Hazlemere Parish Council) presented the
prizes. The winners included Andrew Barrow
who won the Shadbolt cup for most points in
the Horticultural Divisions. The RHS bronze
medal for cut flowers went to Vic Coe for his
vase of trumpet daffodils. Our thanks go to
Hazlemere & Widmer End Good Neighbours
who provided the refreshments.
BARN STORE: Our Barn Store is open every
Sunday morning from 10am to 12noon. You
can find us at Cedar Barn, Barn Lane off Cedar
Ave, so why not come along and see our
extensive range of gardening products at the
best possible prices and join our association.
Annual membership is only £5 (£3 if aged 60
