If your distribution has the option to open the Software Installer immediately<br />

when the download is complete, then the Software Installer program<br />

will start (see Chapter 16). If you download the Installer file to your<br />

workstation, you’ll need to find it on your workstation and then click it<br />

to start the Software Installer program.<br />

6. Start the installation from your Software Installer.<br />

Depending on your distribution, the Software Installer may have to<br />

download additional files to support the Skype installation. The Software<br />

Installer handles this operation automatically; just sit back and watch<br />

the installation happen.<br />

When the installation finishes, Skype appears in the Internet menu group<br />

on your desktop.<br />

7. Choose Internet➪Skype to start Skype.<br />

When Skype starts, a wizard appears. Use it in one of two ways:<br />

• To enter your Skype account information.<br />

• To connect to a Skype server and create a new account (as shown<br />

in Figure 9-15).<br />

After you have an account set up, you can use the Skype interface to<br />

connect to the Skype server and start placing calls!<br />
