Hello MNA Members. My name is Janie Butts. If elected to the position of
Director of the Council on Nursing Research, my goals will correlate with the
responsibilities of this position. My overall intent is to promote the advancement
of the nursing profession through facilitating research-related activities that, in
the end, will improve the health care of Mississippians. In so doing, a number of
promotion of established standards and methods of research; (3) facilitation
of nursing theory development through the research process; and (4)
dissemination of research findings to nurses, other health care professionals,
and to the consumers of care. I also understand that the Research Council
will sponsor the poster session at the MNA Convention. I have a number of
years of experience in coordinating and leading activities to accommodate
research-related presentations and other activities. I have engaged in research
projects intermittently over the years, as well as directed and chaired many
PhD students' dissertation committees. Currently, I am PhD Coordinator of the
PhD in Nursing Program at The University of Southern Mississippi.
“Serving” and being a “servant” to the nurses of the Mississippi Nurses’
