Energy efficient vacuum pumps
Leybold has reduced the energy
consumption of their diffusion
pump series DIP and DIJ by applying
intelligent technologies
and optimising the design. Now
a number of optimised models
and accessories are available. The
DIJ family offers connections for
both ANSI and ISO flange components
as well as various electrical
variants. The five-stage
nozzle system of these pumps
has been improved for the
pressure range from 10 -2 to10 -3
bar. The greatest energy savings
potential was achieved by selecting
an improved heating system
and adjusting it to produce
the propellant stream. In addition,
energy is saved by an optimised
arrangement of the heating
elements in the boiler
room, the loss-free energy
transmission and the thermal
insulation. An integrated energy
regulator that is based on monitoring
the oil and heater temperature
in the boiler room
makes sure that the applied propellant
fluid works at its optimum
temperature. In total,
energy savings of up to 50 %
compared to unregulated stand -
ard pumps are possible.
Precise control of
low flow rates
The Flow-control series by
Bronkhorst is a series of manually
operated, pressure compensated
control valves that are
designed for low flow gas and
liquid applications. The desired
flow rate is set via a needle
valve. Any upstream or discharge
pressure variations are
automatically compensated by a
built-in membrane-operated
valve to ensure a steady, constant
flow. The valves are available in
four different models to control
gas flow rates in the range of
0.02 to 50 l/min (N 2 -equiva-
lent) and liquid flow rates from
3 to 1800 ml/min (for water).
While process connections are
optionally available, the in-line
valve assemblies are usually
equipped with G 1/4" BSPP female
in- and outlet ports.
