Trump Turnberry, South Ayrshire, Scotland
Golf Monthly’s latest Top 100 Golf Courses UK and Ireland 2019/20 rankings saw The Ailsa Course at Trump Turnberry
retain its No.1 position for another two years. The major redesign of The Ailsa led to it rising 3 places in the 2017/18
rankings to No.1 but it is almost as difficult to stay in that lofty position as to attain it. Hence the need to constantly
review the challenge that the course presents. With The Ailsa, that has led to some exciting new developments to
strengthen the layout even further. The main change is to the 11 th hole. Already the picture postcard hole of the
course, the green has been enlarged to add some great new flag positions and a new bunker has been added to the
right of the green. The beautiful landscape of this most photogenic hole has been improved with the addition of two
more beach areas in the carry, bare sand areas behind the green and the removal of rough vegetation beyond the
green to reveal more of the distinctive rock outcrops. All in all, this continued investment in The Ailsa Course shows
that there is no danger of resting on laurels!
