Set high on Braid Hills overlooking Edinburgh, Mortonhall recognised that to offer its members better conditions
year-round, it needed to improve the bunkering on the course. Following a Course Audit in 2017, the Club made the
decision to rebuild and line all of the bunkers to stop stone migration into the sand which had long been a problem.
September and October 2018 saw the first of two phases finished, making the best of an unseasonably dry spell of
weather. Having originally intended to wait until 2020 to complete the programme, such was the members’
enthusiasm to complete the project, the decision has been made to complete the project in 2019.
