Interview with
Mohammad H. Kamyab
oldest, most occupied group with a very good
name in the Iranian community of GTA and has
a very unique characteristic.
Most of our old members have a very emotional
tie with this organization and would like to see
the improvement and grow of this association.
To describe this unique characteristic, I like to
modify one quote from John F. Kennedy, Late
President of USA and that is that our faithful
members never ask what Mohndes has done for
us but what we could do for Mohndes. I think
this is a big gift we have and have saved us during
all those years.
1– Would you please introduce yourself
and tell us when did you join Mohandes.
I am Mohammad H. Kamyab and I have a BS in
EE and MBA with more than 40 years of working
experience in USA, Iran and Canada
I have been active as a Consulting Engineer in
fields of Project Management, Project Control,
Quality
Assurance and Quality Control.
I started to be a member of Mohandes after 3
month of my landing in Canada 21 years ago
and have been in different position as BOD
member, Chairmen of the Board and Senior Advisor
Mohndes. Last September I was honoured
to be elected as one of the members of Board of
Trustees of Mohndes
2 – What do you see as reason(s) for
mohandes resilience despite its ups and
downs?
I think every organization in their long period of
existence will experiment ups and downs. But
in my experience of being with Mohndes for so
many years, I have seen that when we have had
an active BOD we were up and down otherwise.
I have always mentioned that Mohndes is the
3 – What is your opinion about the new Mohandes
constitution?
The old Constitution was as old as Mohndes itself
and needed to be changed. The emphasis
of the old Constitution was mostly about “new
comers” which was a right approach in1988. But
our community has changed. We have newcomers
of course but we should also deal with many
Iranian engineers who are living here for more
than 30 or 35 years. We should address their
needs too with a very wide vision for the future.
I think this new version of Constitution which
was written with the help of group of specialist
during many months of group meetings reflects
the current and future needs of Mohandes as a
progressive group of professionals. To implement
the new Constitution we should consider
that we have some written rules and regulations
and should be able to put them into action. We
should follow our objectives which have been
chosen very carefully and in details. We need to
organize our BOD, BOT and our members to actively
participate and help. We should be able to
functionalize the “Committees” and make them
in a way to operate as they are described in the
Constitution. We have a lot to do and we need a
lot of help.
