Mohandes fundraising cocktail party and the celebration of Mohandes 30th Anniversary were held on Wed, April 11th at the Sheraton Hotel from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Many dignitaries including Ministers, City officials, community leaders and artists graced the occasion with their presence and support. Also a number of Mohandes founders along with most of the long lasting members attended and supported the fundraising. Ms. Lili Nabavi, was the Master of Ceremony and she recited some poems of Hafez, accompanied by Mr. Nader Naderi’s piano. After welcoming remarks by Mr. Mahboob Bolandi, the president of the 30th board and acting chair of the fundraising committee and Mr. Mohammad Kamyab, the past president, the attendees enjoyed the music performances in the first part of the program. In the second part, Mr Bolandi told the story of a birth in 1988, where couple of the founders decided to bring Iranian engineers and architects in Toronto together and establish Kanoon Mohandes Fundraising Cocktail Party 2018 Mohandes. Then he gave a thorough report of Mohandes activities in recent years and invited Dr. Reza Moridi, Minister of Research and Innovation to introduce the honorary guest of the night, his worship John Tory, mayor of Toronto. “The Iranian Engineers and Architects have contributed very positively in many ways in the economy of Ontario, and specially GTA, and when I greet with Iranians in different community occasions, a good fraction of them happen to have engineering background” mentioned Mayor Tory in his speech. He also congratulated the 30th anniversary to all the members and thanked the efforts Mohandes volunteers and directors have done to serve its membership and presented the certificate of appreciation to Mr. Bolandi. This event was organized to raise funds to better serve Mohandes members through its ongoing activities and around 57k was raised in the form of donations and sponsorships with the support of individuals and companies who believe in Mohandes objectives. 6 MOHANDES MAGAZINE
