Historic Midland

First Service was established in Big Spring,
Texas in 1952 by L. J. Jeter. Mr. Jeter operated
the company as Jeter Sheetmetal, Inc. until
1984 when the company was purchased by
David Grosse. Soon after the purchase of the
company, he moved it to Midland and the name
was changed to First Service Air Conditioning
Contractors, Inc.,
Mr. Grosse said the name First Service was
selected to show the company’s commitment to
service. The company has continued to grow
each year by maintaining that commitment.
“We recognize that the most important asset
of the company is our customers,” says Mr.
Grosse, “and every member of our staff is totally
committed to those customers’ satisfaction.”
To fulfill the commitment to service, First
Service is a full line mechanical contractor,
allowing Service representatives to understand
the operation of the complete mechanical system,
not just one component. As a full line
mechanical contractor, First Service is able to
handle any situation that may arise. They offer
design, plumbing, sheetmetal, piping controls,
water treatment, energy management and preventive
maintenance programs.
In any service organization, the employees
are the product it sells. In order to deliver the
best product possible to customers, First
Service’s goal has always been to have the best
employees in the market place. They work as a
team, with every member striving for unity,
knowing that their problems and concerns are
important, and suggestions and questions are
encouraged.
As a local contractor, Mr. Grosse said he is
deeply appreciative of the citizens and businesses
of Midland and the Permian Basin, and especially
grateful for the loyalty of his customers.
