Philadelphia’s Center City District (CCD) is
proof of what’s possible when business and civic
leaders share a vision and invest in the future of
a dynamic and historic city. The vibrant twentyfour-hour
hub of Greater Philadelphia, Center
City is the largest concentrated center of
employment in the region; the premier
destination for conventions and tourism; and
home to world-renowned museums, cultural

In 1990, over two thousand property
owners, commercial tenants, and employers in
the eighty-block district established this privatesector
organization committed to making the
downtown of America’s fifth largest city clean,
safe, and attractive. CCD supplements
municipal services by providing maintenance,
public safety, and hospitality programs 365 days
per year. It also promotes the many cultural,
retail, entertainment and dining opportunities in
Center City through multimedia advertising
campaigns, the sponsorship and production of
special events, and through directional signs to
orient visitors.
