ENARDO
Enardo has a rich history that was built in
the oil fields of the United States and Canada.
The company was founded by Phil B. Drane
in 1933 and headquartered in Tulsa. The
name of the company came about by taking
Drane and spelling it backwards and adding
an “O” to make Enardo.
The company was established as a leader in
vapor control systems for oil field storage tanks.
The combination of products became a system
that prevented loss of product through
evaporation and reducing corrosion. The early
benefits were economic, but much later became
supportive of environmental regulations related
to clean air standards. The company grew to
become the Enardo Foundry and Manufacturing
Company in the 1940s and ’50s.
Thanks to the ingenuity of Robert S. Tomer,
Enardo is a company that literally came out of
hiding after ten years. Tomer was working for
a parent company named Centerline in the
1960s when he found remnants of the Enardo
products. Tomer convinced a banker to loan
him the money to purchase the products and
started RST Service Manufacturing, which
produced Enardo products. This move was the
rebirth of the company that was eventually
renamed Enardo.
Enardo now manufactures low pressure safety
and environmental vapor control products that
consist of pressure vacuum valves, flame
arrestors and storage tank vents for the oil and
gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, chemical,
pulp and paper, and waste industries that assist
in protecting people, property, and the
environment. The company actively sells in
thirty countries with three regional offices and
over seventy representative sales offices.
Enardo is headquartered in Tulsa with its
sales, manufacturing, engineering and
administration located at the 32,500-squarefoot
plant at 4470 South Seventieth East
Avenue. The company also has a second site in
Tulsa for its research and development
laboratory, which is 6,850 square feet with
adjoining acreage.
In 2004, Enardo maintains an employee base
of approximately fifty people and revenues near
$10 million annually. The customer base is
worldwide and consists of all major and
independent oil and gas companies, petrochemical
companies, loading terminal
operators, chemical companies, and pharmaceutical
companies and many municipalities.
The company has grown under the Tomer
family’s leadership. Patric A. Tomer began
his service as president in 1979 until the current
president, Mark J. Tomer, took over
in 1985. Under Mark’s leadership, the company
sales have grown at an average rate of 15 percent
per year over the past 19 years. Enardo has an
aggressive strategic growth plan over the next 5
to 10 years of tripling its size through market
and territorial expansion, new product
development and acquisitions, and operational
efficiencies worldwide.
Enardo gives back to its community by
donating to many charitable organizations
in Tulsa, as well as supporting the Red
Cross as a continual blood drive donor
and United Way with employee matching
funding, which recognizes the company
with a Gold Award standing.
Business involvements include the
Oklahoma Alliance for Manufacturing
Excellence, Oklahoma Safety Council, Tulsa
Area Manufacturers Association, and American
Production and Inventory Control Society,
National Association of Manufacturers,
American Petroleum Institute, National Fire
Protection Association, and the American
Institute of Chemical Engineers, Business and
Marketing Associates of Tulsa, the Oklahoma
Society of CPAs and American Institute of CPAs.
