Top: <strong>Tulsa</strong>’s Central High School was built<br />
in 1917 on Sixth Street, between Cincinnati<br />
and Detroit avenues.<br />
Middle: St. John Hospital was opened by the<br />
Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother in 1926 at<br />
Twenty-first Street and Utica Avenue. The<br />
eight-acre site was then considered “out in<br />
the country.”<br />
Bottom: Oil man William G. Skelly was the<br />
major contributor for construction of Skelly<br />
Stadium, completed in <strong>Tulsa</strong> in 1930. In this<br />
postcard depiction of the stadium, an artist<br />
has filled in the northeast and northwest<br />
corners of the stadium.<br />
