Youth Enquiry Service
Youth Enquiry Service is a local charity that provides free support,
information and counselling to young people. We are a confidential and
friendly service, based in the centre of town. You can visit us in our drop in,
contact us through our website, or book an appointment. We can work with
anyone who is over 13 and under 25 years old, no question or issue is too big
or too small. We appreciate how hard it can be to open up to someone, so
we are here to help you and will never judge. We like to think we are doing a
good job as we’ve been supporting young people since 1982!
Everyone working in the drop in or counselling service is a volunteer. Some
volunteers also do outreach work, and offer counselling in schools and
colleges. We fundraising tirelessly all year round from plant sales to quiz
nights as we receive no funding from local or central government. Any
donations we raise are used to continue our work with young people.
We are always looking for volunteers to help us staff our drop in, training
provided, we also offer placements to trainee counsellors. We have room on
our executive committee too! Please contact us for more information if you
are interested in volunteering with us.
The Hazlemere Fete: Save The Date
The next Hazlemere Fete will be held on the August Bank Holiday Monday
as is traditional, in the grounds of Sir William Ramsay School. The date for
your diary is Monday, 26th August 2019.
In the last edition of VV I appealed for pictures of local historical interest
that we could digitize and print to an exhibition standard. This appeal has
resulted in a real treasure trove of pictures related not just to High
Wycombe but Penn and the wider surrounding area. If you have any
material that you think visitors would be intrigued to see, please contact
the VV Editor. I am hoping that the historical content will be greater than
before although I also welcome offers of digitized Art for exhibiting in our
standard A4 format. Many of the Artists who exhibited last year have
already been in dialogue about offering more work this year. There is no
particular theme but there may be some panels given over to obvious
categories, such as Animals or Fantasy or Common Wood depending on
entries received. Following the Hurricane and Spitfire flypast, we hope for
something special again if conditions permit. Bob Digby
