The partnership with<br />

OneOcean Port Vell<br />

has proved extremely<br />

successful and has<br />

been extended for<br />

another two years<br />

The <strong>2019</strong> MYBA Charter Show was the<br />

third to be held atPOneOceanPPortPVellPin<br />

Barcelona and the 31stPin the event’s<br />

long history. It was a show that set several<br />

new records and raised the bar once again<br />

according to feedback already received<br />

fromPa broad spectrum ofPattendees.<br />

Let’s start byPlookingPat the numbers.PThis<br />

year there were 60 yachts on showPwith<br />

a total L.O.A. of 2,653m and an average<br />

L.O.A. of 44,21Pm.PA positive development in<br />

comparison to theP53 yachts and thePtotal<br />

L.O.A. of 2,521m in 2018.<br />

Their total gross tonnage was 29,464<br />

and the quality of the vessels spoke<br />

volumes!PThe accumulated charter rate<br />

wasP€11.486.500,Pwith the average<br />

charter rate of €194.686.P<br />

ThePexhibitorPstands were manned by 502<br />

dedicated members of staff, with 138<br />

of them belonging to our list of ‘Loyal<br />

Exhibitors’ - those that have participated<br />

in 10Por morePMYBA Charter ShowsPbefore<br />

2016Pand in at least one from 2011 to<br />

2016.PInP2018Pthere wereP494 members<br />

of staffPmanningPthePexhibitorsPstands, a<br />

very small difference versus this year, soPit<br />

doesPindeed seem thatPthe Show enjoys<br />

loyal support and many exhibitors are<br />

returning, an indication that it is indeed<br />

good for business!P<br />

The total numberPof attendees was 2,074<br />

of whom 518 were charter brokers and<br />

central agents. 167 out of the 518 were<br />

MYBA Members.PAlso,Pon board were 616<br />

Captains and crew, who worked tirelessly to<br />

ensure that everything was shipshape, and<br />

65 members of the press who made sure<br />

that the event was well documented.PThe<br />

total number of attendees in 2018 was<br />

1,885 so we can safely say that the<br />

Show’s audience is also growing even<br />

though the acceptance criteria remains<br />

as strict as usual.P<br />

once again,Pthe launching platform for a<br />

Branding, communication, and all<br />

touchpoints, were designed to enhance<br />

the total experience and the holistic<br />

journey that the Show aims to offer.PAnd<br />

itPalso succeeded in capturingPa broader<br />

audience’s attention via MYBA’s social<br />

media channels. An indication of the online<br />

‘chatter’ that surroundedPthe event was<br />

provided byPInstagram where,Pwith 13,000<br />

followers, the Show scored more than<br />

61,000 impressions in just one week.<br />

During the Show, MYBA The Worldwide Yachting<br />

Association andPOneOceanPPortPVellPalsoPannounced<br />

that they have agreed to renew their<br />

collaboration for the next two years as<br />

far as the hosting of the MYBA Charter<br />

Show is concerned. This means that the<br />

MYBA Charter Show will be returning<br />

toPOneOceanPPortPVellPfor both 2020<br />

and 2021. The MYBA Charter Show is<br />

the first major event of the superyacht<br />

season for the charter sector and it<br />

is owing to the world-class facilities<br />

ofPOneOceanPPortPVell, a marina that can<br />

cater to a Show of thisPcalibrePandPsize,<br />

thatPMYBA has chosen to celebrate the<br />

next two editions at this port.P<br />

It was a spectacular Show and we believe<br />

that it will play a pivotal role in securing<br />

bookings and generating charter revenue.<br />
