Damen’s 77m SeaExplorer La Datcha is a game changer in the ever<br />
expanding world of explorer yachts. The custom build for an experienced<br />
owner is equipped with every imaginable toy including two helicopters<br />

With the handover due later this <strong>summer</strong> the<br />
owner of La Datcha was on hand and excited<br />
at the launching of his new 77 metre expedition<br />
yacht. He and his family attended the event at the Damen<br />
Shipyards hull building yard in Galati. After the launch the<br />
hull was transported to the SeaXplorer outfitting yard in<br />
the Netherlands ahead of delivery in September 2020,<br />
just in time for the yacht’s debut at this year’s Monaco<br />
Yacht Show.<br />
Built with extensive customisations to the owner’s<br />
requirements, including his passion for heliskiing, La Datcha<br />
stands out with her helideck and hangar for two aircraft.<br />
She is fully certified for helicopters up to 4,000kg.<br />
The owner intends to make his new yacht available for<br />
charter in a range of polar and tropical destinations during<br />
his planned extensive two-year global tour. Talking just<br />
before the launch, the owner said, “The Earth is so big<br />
and our life is so short, so we have to explore as much<br />
as we can.”<br />
He added, “I fell in love with the shape, the design. With<br />
two helicopters, you can really go further, you can see<br />
