PCSO RECRUITMENT<br />
In March, Sussex Police will be<br />
undergoing a major recruitment drive<br />
to recruit PCSOs, thanks to increased<br />
funding to the precept from the Police<br />
and Crime Commissioner.<br />
Over the next year local policing will<br />

VOLUNTEERS<br />
On Friday 1 March the Chairman of<br />
Wealden District Council hosted his<br />
annual Civic Reception at Herstmonceux<br />
Castle where he also presented the<br />
Community Volunteer Awards.<br />
Stephen Evans, 17, was winner of the<br />
Young Volunteer of the Year for his<br />
contribution to the <strong>Uckfield</strong> Volunteer<br />
Centre, offering free one-to-one IT<br />
support and training to the public.<br />
The evening successfully raised over<br />
£3,000 for the Chairman’s nominated<br />
charities.<br />
ANOTHER SUCCESSFUL DAY FOR<br />
CHAILEY REPAIR CAFÉ!!<br />
Chailey Repair Café had another<br />
successful day at their March café, with<br />
more than 100 visitors from 23 different<br />
Sussex and Kent towns and villages. 62<br />
repairs were attempted.<br />
Chailey Repair Café next opens at Chailey<br />
Village Hall 10am – 1pm on Saturday 13<br />
<strong>April</strong> and then on the second Saturday<br />

BE A BIG SWITCH WINNER<br />
Wealden District Council’s award<br />
winning Big Wealden Switch is open<br />
again to save you money on your<br />
energy bills. This year all those who<br />
register will be entered into a free<br />
draw with a cash prize of £500.<br />
By taking part in The Big Wealden<br />
Switch collective buying scheme,<br />
you could save around £200- £300 a<br />
year on your electricity and gas bills.<br />
You now have the opportunity to<br />
take part in this year’s scheme.<br />
Those that register after 27 March<br />
will be taking part in the May<br />
auction. To be included in the £500<br />
prize draw, you must be registered<br />
by midnight on 20 May. Everyone<br />
who registers will be asked to tell<br />
a friend about the Big Wealden<br />
Switch.<br />
