What do you think of our front cover this month? We're
celebrating 'active', and that 'active bunch' are just some
of those people that get people moving or get people
involved in Uckfield.
Time for a name check! On the cover are: Alistair
Ward, local fitness expert; Dan Sims, whose passion is
getting people running; David Hall, part of an active
group of volunteers who look after our town's nature
reserves; Laura Scott, dedicated Brownie leader; Heidi
Greenwood, who is passionate about getting women and
girls involved in rugby; Michelle Clark, who runs fun
adult dance classes; Ryden Temple, local trampolining
star; and Tim Cottingham, who is Uckfield's tennis
guru, getting kids and adults of all abilities active on the
court. Some of these great folk are also featured in our
Community Champions section (p22).
There's so much to do in and around Uckfield - from
gentle walks, to bowls; dance to tennis. Table tennis
is on offer in Active Uckfield's next have a go day (p20).
Have a think about what you might try and see if you can
get more active (p34).
Easter's approaching, so Zoe rounds up some of the
est places to go for eggs, bunnies and Easter fun (p14).
Our own Nicki tells us about her journey to Living with
Less (p28), and Michelle encourages us to Walk Back to
Health.
With local elections coming up, there are other ways to
get active, too. Find out how you could stand for office
and what's happening when in The Voice (p41).
If you're inspired to try a new way to be active, perhaps
you'd let us know. Get in touch.
Have a fabulous, active April!
