MIXED FORTUNES FOR AFC UCKFIELD<br />

It has been a<br />
case of mixed<br />
fortunes for AFC<br />
<strong>Uckfield</strong> Town in<br />
recent weeks in<br />
both league and<br />
cup.<br />
Excellent home<br />
wins over<br />
Broadbridge Heath (6-1) and Lancing<br />
(4-2) were countered by a last-gasp 1-0<br />
defeat at runaway leaders Chichester<br />
City and a 3-1 loss at Peacehaven &<br />
Telscombe, who also defeated <strong>Uckfield</strong><br />
2-0 in the semi-final of the Sussex RUR<br />
Charity Cup.<br />
However, <strong>Uckfield</strong> did win through to<br />
the final of the Peter Bentley Cup after<br />
a fine 3-2 victory in their semi-final<br />
against Horsham YMCA. In the final,<br />
<strong>Uckfield</strong> will face Saltdean on Bank<br />
Holiday Monday 6 May (kick-off 11.00)<br />
at Hassocks’ ground. It would be hugely<br />
fitting for <strong>Uckfield</strong> to pick up a trophy<br />
to cap off their outstanding recordbreaking<br />
season.<br />
Before then, <strong>Uckfield</strong> will hope to<br />
capitalise on a run of home fixtures<br />
during <strong>April</strong> and finish their league<br />
campaign as strongly as possible.<br />
