UCKFIELD RUGBY CLUB ... CHAMPIONS!

Congratulations to Uckfield Rugby Club
who have secured the Sussex Division
One championship and promotion to
London 3 South East. They clinched
the title after a tense and closely-fought
34-29 win at their nearest challengers
Crawley last month.
After finishing runners-up for the last
two seasons and agonisingly missing
out in the promotion play-off on both
occasions, Uckfield’s achievement has
been fully deserved.
Well done to all the players and the
Uckfield coaching and support team
who have worked tirelessly all season.
Uckfield will be hoping to add another
trophy to the cabinet. They progressed
into the semi-final of the Sussex Shield
after a thrilling last-gasp 32-31 victory
over East Grinstead in the quarter-final.
SPRING MARATHONS
After pounding the streets in training
in all weathers over the winter months,
it is the time of year when many local
runners start to think about winding
down ahead of the traditional spring
marathons in Brighton and London.
Several members of the Uckfield
Runners club will be taking on the 26.2
mile challenge this spring, including
Dan Sims, Dayle Bryant, Jacky Patching
and Aimee Payne, who will be running
the London Marathon on 28 April.
There will also be a good contingent
from the club for this year’s Brighton
Marathon, which is on 14 April, whilst
other runners will be venturing further
afield in other big city marathons,
including Paris and Rome.
Good luck to the Uckfield Runners
and everyone else from the Uckfield
area who will be taking part in their
marathons this spring.
