My journey:
Living with less
by Nicki Richardson
To do list, organise my paperwork, streamline my house and declutter, use less
plastic.
Anyone else have the exact same to
do list with the planned end result of
saving money, spending more time with
the kids and being a far more relaxed
person?!
A year ago I decided to start a journey to
be more organised and do my bit to save
the planet. I’ve learnt a lot; I’ve made
sacrifices and I’ve made changes which,
on the whole, have benefited, more
than hindered. From a complete packed
lunch rethink, to second hand presents
and changes in habits: We still have a
long way to go but we’ve also come a
long way.
MY 8 YEAR OLD'S INFLUENCE...
Schools are working hard to get the
message across that the damage to the
planet that’s happening right now can
stop if we all help to make a difference.
This got stuck in my 8-year-old’s head,
and she came home demanding that
we sell the car and never buy anything
wrapped in or made of plastic.
Sounds perfect to the idealistic me:
What a huge difference I’d be making
and what an amazing person I would
become but the realist in me said:
“Really? Can it really be that easy?”
