communitymatters ANYONE FOR TABLE TENNIS? by Jeremy Hallett One of the original supporters of Active Uckfield’s Sport for All Days, is Uckfield's own Table Tennis club at Ridgewood. They are offering a 'have a go' day on Sunday 28 April - why not come along and try? WHAT SPORT IS BEING OFFERED? Table Tennis - for people of all ages and levels of fitness. And for people of all abilities! WHERE? Ridgewood Village Hall off New Road. A welcoming club with the members that Active Uckfield work with - Nigel Dyer, and John Gothard from Ridgewood Post Office. WHEN? Sunday 28 April between 3 & 5pm. DO YOU NEED TO BRING ANYTHING WITH YOU? Just comfortable clothing and shoes to move around on - no high heels or football boots! CAN YOU COME ON YOUR OWN? Of course you can - members will play with anyone who wants an opponent and they'll help if you don't know the rules. If you want a challenge, then the club are leaders of Division 2 of the East Grinstead Table Tennis League and I am sure some of the members there will give people a work out if they want to push themselves. FINALLY, AN INTERESTING FACT. Ridgewood Table Tennis come back to our Active Uckfield Days every summer, despite the first year seeing the competition standard table that they bring having it's surface "bubble up" in the sun. Since then we've had rain and strong winds at times, but this year, when we will be at West Park on 10 August together with Wealden District Council, we hope that we will again have the weather to allow picnics and great time together. WHY SHOULD YOU TRY A SPORT AND OUR SUMMER DAY? Because this gives a “double whammy” of finding a way to improve or maintain fitness and general health improvements or health maintenance because you enjoy yourself.
