LABOR AND MANAGEMENT SHOW RESPECT<br />
AND SOLIDARITY FOR RETIRED PRESIDENT<br />
In February <strong>2019</strong>, Local 3 President, Robert Olinger,<br />
retired from office after serving for twenty-four consecutive<br />
years. Brother Olinger has been a member of Local 3 for fortyfour<br />
years and in those years served on many committees and<br />
additional offices to help improve the livelihood of Local 3<br />
members.<br />
In honor of Brother Olinger’s dedication and mutually<br />
respected working relationship with the arts organizations<br />
in Pittsburgh, The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, which owns and<br />
operates numerous venues, parks, and organizations in the<br />
Pittsburgh Cultural District, hosted an exclusive dinner party<br />
in Brother Olinger’s honor to show their appreciation for his<br />
achievements.<br />
The cocktail hour and dinner was held at member’s<br />
only Circles Lounge in the Benedum Center and hosted by<br />
The Cultural Trust’s President and CEO Kevin McMahon<br />
and attended by invited guests from Local 3, Cultural Trust<br />
management, and Brother Olinger’s family.<br />

Systems hosted their fifth CUE Professional<br />
Development Conference on July<br />
17-21, <strong>2019</strong> in Madison, WI. This professional<br />
development conference is for end<br />
users of lighting technologies including<br />
<strong>IATSE</strong> members who work as technicians,<br />
programmers, and designers. <strong>IATSE</strong> Locals<br />
One, 8, 13, 16, 22, 38, 51, 52, 85, 115, 187,<br />
251, 300, 470, 481, 490, 578, 680, 690,<br />
728, and USA829. were represented at CUE<br />
<strong>2019</strong>. Members participated in classes<br />
and workshops covering topics such as<br />
console operation, rigging, troubleshooting,<br />
color science, IP networking, routine<br />
maintenance, and safety preparation.<br />
