Local 99 Salt Lake City, UT<br />
Vice President Harper and Representative<br />
Gorey have been helping Local<br />
99 over the last few months in an effort<br />
to build relationships with their exhibition<br />
employers and enforce tradeshow<br />
agreements. The industry continues to<br />
grow in the Salt Lake City area and the<br />
Department is working with the Local to<br />
help dispatch members to perform the<br />
increase in work opportunities.<br />
Local 127 Dallas, TX/Local 126 Fort<br />
Worth, TX<br />
Freeman Expositions, Inc. and Locals<br />
126 and 127 have finalized a three-year<br />
supplemental agreement that includes<br />
wage and benefit increases over the term<br />
in keeping with the respective plans of<br />
each Local. A contribution to the Training<br />
Trust was also secured. These agreements<br />
will increase employment opportunities<br />
for members in the region.<br />
Local 143 St. Louis, MO<br />
Business Representative Gordon<br />
Hayman of Local 143 in St Louis requested<br />
International assistance with PSAV<br />
negotiations. Vice President Carlson and<br />
Representative Hague were assigned.<br />
Following one bargaining meeting, the<br />
Local was able to secure a five-year contract<br />
with annual increases and improved<br />
minimum calls.<br />
Local 205 Austin, TX<br />
As previously reported, negotiations<br />
commenced to add Local 205 to the Freeman<br />
AV National Agreement in December<br />
2018. These negotiations continue<br />
and are likely to translate into a finalized<br />
agreement shortly.<br />
Local 423 Albuquerque, NM<br />
Representative Cook assisted Local<br />
423 in negotiations with GES, Brede<br />
Colorado and Convention Services of the<br />
Southwest. To date, the Local has ratified<br />
agreements with GES and Brede Colorado.<br />
The updated agreements include<br />
annual wage increases premium pay and<br />
improved dues checkoff language.<br />
Local 470 Green Bay, WI<br />
Representative Hague assisted Local<br />
470 with contract language with Live<br />
Nation to cover a Paul McCartney concert<br />
at Lambeau Field in June.<br />
Local 720 Las Vegas, NV<br />
The Local 720 Freeman AV contract<br />
is under extension and is being negotiated<br />
with the assistance of Vice President<br />
Sanders and Representative Gorey. The<br />
parties are close to a deal and hope to finalize<br />
an agreement shortly.<br />
Negotiations with Shepard Expositions<br />
have been successfully completed.<br />
In addition to the economic package, the<br />
Local was able to secure weekend premium<br />
pay.<br />
Florida Locals General<br />
Services Contract<br />
Vice President Sanders and Representative<br />
Gorey assisted the Florida<br />
Locals in negotiations for of General<br />
Services Contract. As reported earlier,<br />
the largest employers in the Tradeshow<br />
industry are signatory – Allied/Brede,<br />
Freeman, GES, and Shepard Expositions,<br />
netting nearly $14 Million in gross wages<br />
per year. A dozen other employers sign<br />
on once the GSC agreement is ratified.<br />
The contract expired on October 1, 2018<br />
and was extended through February 28,<br />
<strong>2019</strong>. The agreement reached between<br />
the parties and ratified by the membership<br />
includes retroactive wage increases<br />
over the five-year term for all job classifications.<br />
Florida Locals Freight Contract<br />
Vice President Sanders assisted the<br />
Florida Locals with the statewide Freight<br />
Contract. The major employers – Allied/<br />
Brede, Freeman, and GES – agreed to<br />
adopt the economic package the Locals<br />
negotiated with the General Service Contract.<br />
The renewed Freight Contract has<br />
since been ratified by the membership.<br />
U.S. Organizing:<br />
Representative Gorey is in the process<br />
of working with the new President and<br />
Business Agent of Local 363 to provide<br />
Comet training and AV organizing opportunities.<br />
The Department continues to make<br />
progress in the Southern California<br />
market.<br />
U.S. Training:<br />
The Department continues to make<br />
customer service training a priority for<br />
members working in the tradeshow industry.<br />
Since the last General Executive<br />
Board meeting, Customer Service Training<br />
has been provided to Locals 12, 28,<br />
and 51. The Department’s efforts in this<br />
regard have been welcomed and appreciated<br />
by signatory employers.<br />
The Department also continues to<br />
work closely with the IA Education Department<br />
and AVIXA to assist Locals in<br />
accessing the most up-to-date training<br />
as new digital equipment enters the field<br />
and networking drives more of the content.<br />
Since February <strong>2019</strong>, Representatives<br />
Cook, Cota and Hague have participated<br />
in training with Locals 11, 33 and<br />
665. Future trainings are being scheduled<br />
for Locals 8, 18, and 38.<br />
