MICHELIN DIGS DEEP IN THAILAND
The third edition of the Michelin
Guide Thailand has finally been
unveiled along with the names of the
winners of Michelin stars and Bib
Gourmands. It confirms that the socalled
locavore movement, powered
by locally sourced ingredients, is the
new star of Thailand’s foodie scene.
Of the 282 dining and 74 lodging
establishments featured in the new guide,
five are awarded two stars, 24 one star
and 94 handed Bib Gourmands. Two
restaurants have entered the Michelin
constellation with one star apiece:
R-Haan,where royal Thai cuisine meets
fresh, top-notch ingredients; and Sorn,
where traditional southern Thai cuisine
is lovingly preserved and crafted from
sustainably sourced ingredients.
The Bib Gourmands go to 94
establishments spread across Bangkok,
Chiang Mai, Phuket and Phang Nga.
Hence the list digs into the country’s
culinary core and takes food lovers off
the tourist taste track. guide.michelin.
