An ocean-saving solar backpack
Up until recently,
Solgaard has mainly
been known for its
sustainable suitcases,
which feature
a built-in shelving
system and charging
port. The company’s
newer collection
includes unisex
bags and backpacks,
all crafted in the
brand’s exclusive
propietary Shoretex
fabric, which is
made from upcycled
ocean-bound plastic.
Solgaard’s mission
is to pull 1 million
pounds of plastic
from the ocean by
the end of this year,
and for every item
sold, the company
pulls 5 pounds of
plastic from the
ocean. For those
looking to further
their goal, the sleek
Lifepack Solar 2.0
may be the way
to go. The solarpowered
backpack
has an integrated
USB port to easily
charge devices as
well as an anti-theft
lock to keep items
safe. There are two
main storage areas,
with multiple pockets
and compartments to
keep organized. The
bag, which stands
upright on its own
and has a waterresistant
bottom,
includes a Solarbank
(aka a powerbank
with solar charger),
a suitcase mounting
strap, and four
secret passport and
card pockets. There’s
also plush shoulder
straps, back support
and a drop-proof
laptop storage compartment.
