Gotická Bazilika svätého Mikuláša sa začala
stavať koncom 14. storočia na pozostatkoch
románskeho predchodcu. Dodnes je mariánskym
pútnickým miestom, a to vďaka barokovej
kaplnke a obrazu Panny Márie Trnavskej,
ktorá sa počas vpádov Turkov a Kurucov do
Trnavy preslávila svojimi krvavými slzami.
Vďaka procesii s obrazom tiež vyhnali mor
z Trnavy a okolia. Na juhovýchodnej strane
baziliky bol objavený románsky karner, teda
kostnica, ktorá je najstaršou murovanou sakrálnou
stavbou Trnavy. V pohrebnej kaplnke bola
objavená až trojmetrová vrstva kostí.

St. Nicolas Basilica
EN
The Gothic St. Nicolas Basilica was built at the end of the 14 th
century and it replaced the original Roman church. It became
an important pilgrim place thanks to the Baroque chapel and
the painting of Virgin Mary of Trnava with bloody tears which
brought her fame during the invasions of Turks and Kurucs in
Trnava. Procession with the painting helped to chase out the
plague epidemic from Trnava and the surrounding area. On
the southeastern side of the basilica, the Romanesque ossuary
(bone house), which is the oldest mural sacred structure of
Trnava, was discovered. A three-meter layer of bones was
discovered in the funeral chapel.
Ročne sa
k tomuto
miestu chodia
modliť tisíce
veriacich.
Every year,
thousands of
believers come to
this place and pray.
