Norden 6 Mile Road Race

Time/Date: 7.30pm, Friday 12th June 2020.

Race Headquarters: The Bridge Inn, Edenfield Road.

Route: Starting outside the Bridge Inn, the route ascends Edenfield Road, turning left on to

Ashworth Road and following Ashworth Road to School Lane. Runners continue along School

Lane to Furbarn Lane and turn left on to Clay Lane. Running the length of Clay Lane to

Bagslate Moor Road and Moorland Avenue before rejoining Edenfield Road and running

through the village. The race finishes on Blackpitts Road.

Expected Number of Competitors: 100-130.

Race Organisation: The race is organised by Nick Barton, on behalf of Rochdale Harriers

& AC. Nick can be contact at nick.barton@me.com. Race signage including “warning runners”

signs will be erected on the day of the race and removed immediately after the race. More

than a dozen marshals will be posted at junctions and other key points around the course

and a lead bike will be used as well as a tail runner, all will be identifiable and wearing hi-vis.

Full medical cover will be provided in accordance with UK Athletics guidance.

Naden Valley Multi-Terrain Race

Time/Date: 11am, Saturday 13th June 2020.

Race Headquarters: The Bridge Inn, Edenfield Road.

Route: The race starts on Ashbourne Street and follows

Furbarn Lane to School Lane, where it continues on trails

through Naden Valley. Runners complete three laps of a

route, which passes Paperhouse Bridge and the former

Edgerton Arms then crosses fields to regain School Lane

and begin the lap again. After three laps, Paperhouse Bridge

is crossed and the path to Wolstenholme Fold is followed,

runners pass through Wolstenholme Fold and run along

Hutchinson Road before finishing in Jubilee Park.

Expected Number of Competitors: 80-100.

Race Organisation: The race is organised by Norman Eames on behalf of Rochdale Harriers

& AC. Norman can be contacted at normaneames@yahoo.com. Signage will be posted around

the course more than a week before the event, to ensure that other users are aware and able

to feedback to organisers. All signage will be removed immediately after the event. Rochdale

Harriers carry out maintenance of the route in advance of the race each year, typically this

includes cutting back grass and brambles on footpaths and if required repairing stiles. More

than a dozen marshals will be posted at junctions and other key points around the course and

a tail runner will be used, all will be identifiable and wearing hi-vis. Full medical cover will be

provided in accordance with UK Athletics guidance.
