Wel<strong>com</strong>e to the <strong>2011</strong>-<strong>12</strong> season of the Charlotte Bobcats! Please familiarize yourself with the following<br />

guidelines and policies in order to ensure a quality work environment. Feel free to contact the Bobcats<br />

basketball <strong>com</strong>munications department with any questions regarding these policies or for any other inquiries.<br />

MEDIA PARkING<br />

<strong>Media</strong> parking will be available in the lot at 501<br />

East Trade Street (directly across Caldwell Street<br />

from the arena loading dock).<br />

MEDIA ENTRANCE<br />

The media entrance will open 2 1/2 hours prior to<br />

game time. Working media should enter Time Warner<br />

Cable Arena from Fifth Street, east of the Presbyterian<br />

Hospital Training Center. Upon entry, media<br />

should proceed downstairs to the media work areas.<br />

PRESS ROOM<br />

The press workrooms are located on the event level,<br />

near the locker rooms and interview room, and are<br />

open 2 1/2 hours before game time. Press room usage<br />

is limited to working media and game staff only.<br />

Telephones, wireless internet access, game notes,<br />

media guides, statistics, quotes and out-of-town<br />

scores are available in this area. Please use <strong>com</strong>mon<br />

courtesy in maintaining a quiet working environment<br />

in the press workrooms.<br />

SINGLE-GAME CREDENTIALS<br />

<strong>Media</strong> members wishing to cover a single game<br />

must submit their requests at least 48 hours prior<br />

to the intended game. Requests for games on Sunday,<br />

Monday or Tuesday must be submitted by Noon<br />

on the preceding Friday. Single-game credentials<br />

will be issued on a space-available basis. First-time<br />

requests must be in written form on <strong>com</strong>pany<br />

letterhead and submitted to Josh Rosen by e-mail<br />

(jrosen@bobcats.<strong>com</strong>) or fax (704-688-7864).<br />

Requests from foreign and international media<br />

should be submitted to Rachel Walsh of the <strong>NBA</strong><br />

international public relations department at<br />

rwalsh@nba.<strong>com</strong> and must be received at least<br />

three business days prior to the intended game.<br />

Credentials can be picked up at the media entrance<br />

of the arena 2 1/2 hours prior to tip-off. Photo<br />

identification will be required when picking up<br />

credentials at the media entrance. Applying for<br />

credentials does not guarantee confirmation.<br />

COACHES PREGAME &<br />

POSTGAME AVAILABILITY<br />

Bobcats Head Coach Paul Silas will hold his pregame<br />

media session 90 minutes prior to tip-off<br />

outside the team’s locker room for all home games,<br />

and he will conduct his postgame media session in<br />

the main interview room adjacent to the press workrooms.<br />

During postgame media sessions, priority<br />

must be given to those media on deadline (print and<br />

live broadcast), and interviews should be limited to<br />

game <strong>com</strong>ments.<br />

LOCkER ROOM ACCESS<br />

Both the Bobcats and visiting team’s locker rooms<br />

are located down the hallway from each other and<br />

the press work area. In accordance with <strong>NBA</strong> policy,<br />

both locker rooms will be open 90 minutes prior and<br />

close 45 minutes prior to tip-off. Following the game,<br />

locker rooms will open after a 10-minute cooling-off<br />

period. Only credentialed media will be allowed in<br />

the locker rooms. Still photography and autographs<br />

are not permitted in the locker rooms. Cell phones<br />

are also prohibited in the locker rooms, both before<br />

and after games.<br />

PHOTOGRAPHERS<br />

Season passes will be provided to accredited photographers<br />

from daily newspapers and television<br />

stations who cover the majority of Bobcats regular<br />

season home games. Photographers must be on<br />

assignment for a publication to be credentialed. No<br />

photography of any Bobcats game shall be released<br />

to any individual other than the entity for whom the<br />

pass was issued and subject to the rules governing<br />

such use as described on the reverse side of the<br />

credential. All photographers and TV cameramen<br />

must stay at least four feet behind the baseline at<br />

all times. Photographers must remain stationary<br />

and seated at all times, except at quarter breaks<br />

and halftime, and are not permitted on the court at<br />

any time during the game. Photographers are<br />

asked to keep courtside equipment to a minimum<br />

and leave all excess equipment and outside clothing<br />

in the small photo work room. Flashbulbs are<br />

not permitted at any time.<br />

RUBBER LENS SHADES<br />

In order to reduce the risk of injury to players, rubber<br />

lens shades are required for all still photographers,<br />

broadcasters, news and entertainment video and<br />

film crews who are authorized to shoot <strong>NBA</strong> game<br />

action. Any additional light sources or sun guns must<br />

either be removed or covered with bubble wrap.<br />

SEATING<br />

Home and visiting television positions will be on the<br />

main press table at courtside between the team<br />

benches. Radio positions are located in the upper<br />

center court section of 105. Writers will be located<br />

in section 105, below the radio broadcast position<br />

at center court. Additional seating is at the top of<br />

sections 107-1<strong>12</strong>. A seating chart will be posted in<br />

the press room. The quarter play-by-play sheets<br />

and halftime and final box scores are distributed as<br />

quickly as possible to all locations.<br />

SHOOT AROUNDS<br />

Shoot arounds will take place at Time Warner Cable<br />

Arena. All shoot arounds are closed to the media,<br />

with interviews following the shoot around period.<br />

Shoot around times are subject to change. Please<br />

call the basketball <strong>com</strong>munications department for<br />

updated shoot around times.<br />

PRACTICE POLICY<br />

The Bobcats practice at the Presbyterian Hospital<br />

Training Center at Time Warner Cable Arena. Practices<br />

are closed to the public but open to the media<br />

for the final 30 minutes. Players and coaches are<br />

available immediately following practice for interviews.<br />

<strong>Media</strong> will have access to the press work<br />

areas on the event level while waiting for media<br />

availability. Please contact the Bobcats basketball<br />

<strong>com</strong>munications department to confirm practice<br />

times and the availability of the players and coaches.<br />

Interviews intent on lasting longer than five<br />

minutes should be scheduled in advance with the<br />

Bobcats basketball <strong>com</strong>munications department.
