Named Third-Team All-America by The Associated Press and the National<br />

Association of Basketball Coaches as a senior after averaging 18.4 points<br />

and 9.2 rebounds... Received the Chip Hilton Player of the Year Award<br />

from the Basketball Hall of Fame, an award given to a player who has<br />

demonstrated personal character both on and off the court… Named First<br />

Team All-Big <strong>12</strong> and selected to the Big <strong>12</strong> All-Defensive Team… Ranked<br />

25th in the nation in rebounding… Finished Oklahoma career ranked<br />

third in minutes played (3,856), fourth in steals (193), fifth in rebounds<br />

(910), sixth in blocked shots (89), seventh in field goal attempts (1,423),<br />

eighth in points scored (1,646), ninth in field goals (6<strong>12</strong>), 10th in free<br />

throws (337) and 10th in free throw attempts (504)... As a junior, led the<br />

team in scoring (15.5) and rebounding (8.3) and ranked second in assists<br />

(2.2), steals (1.8) and blocks (0.8), en route to Second Team All-Big <strong>12</strong><br />

honors… As a sophomore, ranked third on team in scoring (10.5) and in<br />

rebounding (5.4)... Named to the Big <strong>12</strong> All-Freshman Team and finished<br />

second in Big <strong>12</strong> Freshman of the Year voting after averaging 7.0 points<br />

and a team-high 5.6 rebounds.<br />

PERSONAL<br />

Last name pronounced Na-he-RAH… Full name is Eduardo Alonso<br />

Najera… The son of Servando Najera and Rosa Irene Perez… He and<br />

his wife, Jennifer, have a daughter and two sons…. In 2004, launched<br />

the Eduardo Najera Foundation for Latin Achievement in order to help<br />

less privileged children receive a college education… Took part in the<br />

first-ever Basketball without Borders Americas Tournament in Rio de<br />

Janeiro, Brazil, in 2004… Since joining the <strong>NBA</strong>, has held more than 30<br />

basketball clinics throughout Mexico, organizing events in several states<br />

including Monterrey, Mexico City, Guadalajara and Chiapas… Along with<br />

the <strong>NBA</strong>, the US Fund for UNICEF and Pier 1, hosted a fundraising event<br />

for children of war-torn Afghanistan.
