his club to a fifth-place finish at the 2006 FIBA World Championships<br />

PERSONAL<br />
Full name is Boris Babacar Diaw-Riffiod… The son of Issa Diaw, a lawyer<br />
in Dakar, Senegal, and Elisabeth Riffiod, who played 13 years and 247<br />
international matches for the French National Team… According to the<br />
Suproleague Yearbook, a basketball publication in France, his mother is<br />
considered to be the best center in French women’s basketball history,<br />
while his father is a former Senegalese high jump champion… He has<br />
two brothers, Martin, who played in the French B (second league) at<br />
Golbey-Epinal, and younger half-brother Papa “Paco” who previously<br />
played guard at Georgia Tech… Created a not-for-profit organization in<br />
2005 (Babac’Ards) to help young Senegalese children be<strong>com</strong>e productive<br />
citizens with a focus on education and basketball… Babac’Ards is named<br />
after his Senegalese middle name, Babacar, and a few letters standing<br />
for: Association to Realize Development based on international Solidarity…<br />
Annually holds a basketball camp in Dakar, Senegal… Joined fellow<br />
French <strong>NBA</strong> players, including Orlando’s Mickael Pietrus, Golden State’s<br />
Ronny Turiaf and Miami’s Yakouba Diawara, at Basketball Without Borders<br />
