Appeared in 76 games for the Hawks as a rookie, averaging 4.5 points,<br />

4.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 25.3 minutes… Scored in double figures<br />

six times and recorded double-figure rebounds on four occasions, posting<br />

one double-double – a 13-point, <strong>12</strong>-rebound effort on April 14 at Boston.<br />

INTERNATIONAL CAREER<br />

Member of the France Senior National Team since 2003… Averaged 9.3<br />

points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists for the French National Team at<br />

the 2007 European Championships in Madrid, Spain, as France finished<br />

in eighth place… Named captain of the French National Team and led<br />

his club to a fifth-place finish at the 2006 FIBA World Championships<br />

in Japan… Averaged 11.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.4 assists in nine<br />

games (5-4 record)… Also <strong>com</strong>peted in the European Championships<br />

in 2003 and 2005… Played for Pau Orthez in France from 2000-03,<br />

averaging 6.3 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 93 games…<br />

In 2002-03, averaged 7.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.8 assists in 23<br />

contests and connected on 59.6 percent of his shots… Two days after being<br />

drafted by the Hawks, helped his team to their second French League<br />

championship, along with teammate Mickael Pietrus, who was selected by<br />

the Warriors with the 11th overall pick in the 2003 draft… Named 2001<br />

Pro A New<strong>com</strong>er of the Year for Pau Orthez as they took home the league<br />

championship… Played in the league’s All-Star Game and won the slam<br />

dunk contest in 2001-02.<br />

PERSONAL<br />

Full name is Boris Babacar Diaw-Riffiod… The son of Issa Diaw, a lawyer<br />

in Dakar, Senegal, and Elisabeth Riffiod, who played 13 years and 247<br />

international matches for the French National Team… According to the<br />

Suproleague Yearbook, a basketball publication in France, his mother is<br />

considered to be the best center in French women’s basketball history,<br />

while his father is a former Senegalese high jump champion… He has<br />

two brothers, Martin, who played in the French B (second league) at<br />

Golbey-Epinal, and younger half-brother Papa “Paco” who previously<br />

played guard at Georgia Tech… Created a not-for-profit organization in<br />

2005 (Babac’Ards) to help young Senegalese children be<strong>com</strong>e productive<br />

citizens with a focus on education and basketball… Babac’Ards is named<br />

after his Senegalese middle name, Babacar, and a few letters standing<br />

for: Association to Realize Development based on international Solidarity…<br />

Annually holds a basketball camp in Dakar, Senegal… Joined fellow<br />

French <strong>NBA</strong> players, including Orlando’s Mickael Pietrus, Golden State’s<br />

Ronny Turiaf and Miami’s Yakouba Diawara, at Basketball Without Borders<br />

Europe in Paris, France… Participated in the 2006 Basketball Without<br />

Borders Africa in Johannesburg, South Africa at the America International<br />

School of Johannesburg, where he helped teach awareness of AIDS and<br />

the importance of education.
