Just in those days, I met old Morgan. He
was elusive, ugly, mangy, with a white
spot in one eye, and only had half a tail.
I learned later that the other half lost
her in a horrible fight with another
squirrel “chasing tail”. He also had
lost sight of his left eye due to a bite.
My mother was in charge of giving her
medicine for her scabies, and many
peanuts and nuts that soon made Morgan
look better in a short time. At first, I
kept away from him, I was afraid of that
white eye. He didn’t approach me either.
He seemed afraid of everything. But after
a while of finding ourselves in the same
trees and being chased away by the same
squirrels, we began to put aside our
differences. After all, despite everything, we
had a lot in common. We were rejected by the
community, me for being an orphan, without mom
and without brothers to play and him for being
physically disadvantaged compared to
others. So, we became eternal companions
