During one of our monthly meetings,
one of our members stated that while
her two teenage daughters were at the
park with friends; there was a guy that
exposed his private parts to their group.
They called 911, but by the time the police
arrived, the male got in his vehicle and left.
They got his vehicle information and a
good description of the male which was
very helpful for the police department.
There are no cameras protecting this
park and surrounding parks in our area.
Our organization has set aside funding
to add to our towns funding, so that we
can ensure there are more cameras
around the neighborhood parks, near
our subdivisions, and anywhere cameras
can be added.
I have thoroughly researched a slew of
options to bring before the Council. Closed
Circuit Television (CCTV) is being utilized
to protect many communities according
to the Nidirect Government Services Site:
Closed circuit television records images of
people in certain public places including
town centers, roads, airports, and on public
transport. CCTV images can be used as
evidence in court. You can request CCTV
recordings of yourself.” Also, “Cameras
record images twenty-four hours every
day. CCTV operators watch live images
at strategic times in a local monitoring
suite. If they notice criminal activity on
camera, they can direct police response
to the incident.
The options that are available using this
system will be very beneficial. I know that
once we invest in this camera system,
we will prove to our community that their
safety is top priority. Furthermore, it is
illegal, and a safety hazard for some of
our neighbors to leave pet feces in the
grass and even on public grounds, while
out for walks.
For instance, I have personally witnessed
my neighbor that lives across from me,
walk her dog over to use my lawn. The
only time she cleans it up is if she sees
me driving up to my garage. One day
during the snowy winter months I was
leaving for work; there she was, standing
directly in front of my walkway, as her dog
proceeded to use my snowy lawn area. It
was brisk outside, the snow was blowing
with the wind. Would you believe that as
I sat there to see if she would clean it
up, she slid and fell in her dog’s feces?
At that point, I just wanted to make sure
she was not hurt. I sat there until I saw
that she made it inside of her home. This
was getting out of hand because now she
is risking her own safety in the process
of going against Code Ordinances. The
Home Owners Association was notified
and is now privy to what has been
transpiring. They have assured me that
they will send a violation noticed to the
address I provided According to The Code
of Ordinances of Chesterfield Charter
Township, MI: “Animal Control” Article

Section 10-13 Violations and Penalties:
