BEAUTY WILL
SAVE THE
WORLD
In the Nineteenth Century, a Russian
author by the name Dostoyevsky, said
“Beauty Will Save the World.” There
are many beliefs about what he
meant. There is not really a right or
wrong answer. In my opinion, he is
saying that once people start seeing
beauty in people and things, then the
world would become a better place.
We will be more understanding,
appreciative, and in general better
people. People take beauty in different
directions. Some people might say
beauty is external. That you are
defined by your appearance.
However, personally I believe, beauty
doesn’t mean that. I believe beauty
comes from within. A beautiful person
is genuine, passionate, optimistic, and
warm hearted. They care and help
others, even when no one is looking.
Most importantly, beautiful people see
beauty in others, even the smallest
things. They always treat everyone
the same.
A beautiful person is someone who
doesn’t expect anything in return every
time they do good. They stay true to
who they are and don’t change for
others. They believe in themselves
and stand for what is right. These are
just some of the qualities a beautiful
person can have.
If people were to just look around
and accept the differences in others,
they would notice that these are
just qualities of beauty and take
positive note rather than a negative.
For example, there is a woman named
Lizzi Velasquez. She was considered
the “world’s most ugliest women,”
but yet she was an inspiration and
motivation in many people’s eyes. She
found her voice, after being bullied
and suffering very mean and hurtful
comments. She always has a warm
heart and never made anyone feel
unwanted. She saw the beauty in
herself when no one did. In my eyes,
she is not ugly.
