animal is harbored or kept, unless that fecal
matter is immediately collected, moved
and properly disposed of. Any person
who violates the provisions of this article
shall, upon conviction thereof, be guilty of
a misdemeanor and subject to a penalty
not to exceed $500 or imprisonment in the
county jail for a period not to exceed 90
days, or both such fine and imprisonment.
Henceforth, we must enforce the legalities
of cleaning up pet feces to our residents.
Equally important, there are a slew of safety
hazards that many may not be privy to.
Some may not see this as a huge deal, but
since I am cognizant of what happens in
our lawn/snow; I will protect the children as
much as I can while they are out playing in
the lawn during the warmer months, and
in the snow during the winter. They are
not aware of what is lingering in their play
areas; all they want is to have fun while
playing outside. They should not have to roll
around in unsafe dog feces. “What Happens
When You Don’t Pick Up Your Dog’s Poop?”
Is an article on The Dogington Post,
that shows an info-graphic created by
PoopBuddy. It gives us the repercussions
and aftereffects of leaving dog feces in
grass. First, “decomposition begins, which
causes toxic bacteria to seep into the soil.”
Then, “rain and humidity are combined with
the feces, it carries dangerous pathogens
and pollutes our fresh water, lakes, and
even streams.” The article also tells us that,
“the wastewater treatment system is not
designed to filter dog waste, and that there
are 23 million fecal bacteria per 1 gram of
dog feces.” (Arnold). In conclusion, we will
indeed improve the quality of life for our
residents as soon as we implement the
plans I am proposing in this letter. We must
do all we can to speed up the process of
our road improvements, so that our roads
are safer for all driver’s and pedestrians.
It is imperative that we add more public
surveillance cameras so that our community
is safer for all. Lastly, we must reinforce
the legal and safety importance of why
we must not leave pet feces in the grass
and on public grounds. I am confident
that when we work together, we will see
results, and accomplish all our goals so
that safety will prevail.
