THE FIVE STAGES OF GRIEF,

Kristen Sadlocha

“The concept for this piece was to show the five

stages of grie from the tissue box’s perspective, and

I chose to make it with charcoal because it looks

more fluid and emotional than pencil. The first tissue

box is sitting untouched to represent denial. The

second box is bashed in and surrounded by

crumpled tissues to represent anger. The third stage

is bargaining, where a lot of hypothetical questions

start to form, which is represented by the distance

between the box and the tissue. The fourth box

represents depression by having the tissue fall

out of the box itself. The final stage of grief is

acceptance, which is represented by the normal

view of the tissue box.”
