Clubs & Enrichment Activities<br />
There is a lot going on at lunch<strong>time</strong> and after classes<br />
finish, most of which is free of charge. Activities include<br />
The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, badminton,<br />
table tennis, football, ultimate frisbee, dodgeball,<br />
boxercise, basketball, cricket & netball, circuit/fitness<br />
training, pool, LAN (local area network) & console<br />
gaming. These activities change regularly depending<br />
on the demand and if we don’t offer your favourite<br />
hobby/club, tell us and we’ll see if we can set it up.<br />
Fitness Suite<br />
We want all of our students to feel fit, healthy and<br />
happy. All students can access the free Fitness Suite<br />
based in Victoria Hall. Once you have completed your<br />
induction, you are free to use the equipment to build<br />
muscle, tone up or just improve your fitness.<br />
Volunteering<br />
We have lots of opportunities to enrich your CV or<br />
university application, improve your leadership skills<br />
and make you stand out from the crowd!<br />
• Gain valuable experience, rewards and even<br />
additional qualifications within the <strong>College</strong><br />
working with local agencies and service providers.<br />
• Organise and promote events.<br />
• Fundraise for local & national charities and<br />
organisations.<br />
• Complete voluntary work as part of The Duke of<br />
Edinburgh Award.<br />
• Take part in the National Citizen Service or NCS,<br />
as it’s more commonly known.<br />
Student Discount<br />
If you are a student or an apprentice, you are eligible to<br />
buy an NUS TOTUM card for £14.99. With the card, you<br />
will be able to take advantage of a variety of student<br />
discounts including in supermarkets, on clothing &<br />
beauty items, travel, restaurants and UK attractions.<br />

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC)<br />
Offering more than just books...<br />
The Learning Resource Centre is for everyone on<br />
a course or apprenticeship at <strong>Shipley</strong> <strong>College</strong>. Our<br />
helpful, friendly team of staff are always ready to<br />
lend a hand and offer advice. Based in our Exhibition<br />
Building, the LRC provides a ‘one-stop shop’ for<br />
information, computing, study, and coursework<br />
presentation requirements.<br />
The LRC has a wide range of learning materials<br />
including books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs and<br />
online resources. They also have mobile technology<br />
available to support your learning needs, including<br />
laptops, digital & video cameras and audio recorders,<br />
which are all available to loan using your <strong>College</strong> ID<br />
badge.<br />
Please note, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the type<br />
of service available may vary.<br />
