Clubs & Enrichment Activities
There is a lot going on at lunchtime and after classes
finish, most of which is free of charge. Activities include
The Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award, badminton,
table tennis, football, ultimate frisbee, dodgeball,
boxercise, basketball, cricket & netball, circuit/fitness
training, pool, LAN (local area network) & console
gaming. These activities change regularly depending
on the demand and if we don’t offer your favourite
hobby/club, tell us and we’ll see if we can set it up.
Fitness Suite
We want all of our students to feel fit, healthy and
happy. All students can access the free Fitness Suite
based in Victoria Hall. Once you have completed your
induction, you are free to use the equipment to build
muscle, tone up or just improve your fitness.
Volunteering
We have lots of opportunities to enrich your CV or
university application, improve your leadership skills
and make you stand out from the crowd!
• Gain valuable experience, rewards and even
additional qualifications within the College
working with local agencies and service providers.
• Organise and promote events.
• Fundraise for local & national charities and
organisations.
• Complete voluntary work as part of The Duke of
Edinburgh Award.
• Take part in the National Citizen Service or NCS,
as it’s more commonly known.
Student Discount
If you are a student or an apprentice, you are eligible to
buy an NUS TOTUM card for £14.99. With the card, you
will be able to take advantage of a variety of student
discounts including in supermarkets, on clothing &
beauty items, travel, restaurants and UK attractions.

The Learning Resource Centre (LRC)
Offering more than just books...
The Learning Resource Centre is for everyone on
a course or apprenticeship at Shipley College. Our
helpful, friendly team of staff are always ready to
lend a hand and offer advice. Based in our Exhibition
Building, the LRC provides a ‘one-stop shop’ for
information, computing, study, and coursework
presentation requirements.
The LRC has a wide range of learning materials
including books, magazines, newspapers, DVDs and
online resources. They also have mobile technology
available to support your learning needs, including
laptops, digital & video cameras and audio recorders,
which are all available to loan using your College ID
badge.
Please note, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the type
of service available may vary.
