Entry requirements<br />
• 2 GCSEs at grade 2 (E) or above in both English<br />
& maths however, GCSE grade 3 (D) would be<br />
preferable.<br />
• We will do an assessment to find out if this course<br />
is right for you.<br />
• A positive attitude and a keen interest in caring<br />
for all ages.<br />
• You will be invited to a ‘taster’ session to find out<br />
more about the course.<br />
About the course<br />
This course gives you a fantastic introduction to<br />
working with adults in health & social care settings<br />
or working with children. Topics include being<br />
organised, developing a personal progression<br />
plan, communication skills for health & social care<br />
and advising others about healthy lifestyles. You<br />
complete a unit on the experience of work and visit a<br />
range of health & social care and childcare settings to<br />
help you decide where you would like to work in the<br />
future. You also gain personal & social development<br />
skills which will help you with your studies and<br />
finding a job. In addition, you gain important<br />
Functional Skills qualifications in maths and English.<br />
Your future<br />
After completing your course, you can move on to the<br />
Health & Social Care BTEC Level 2 or a CACHE Level<br />
2 course, or other Level 2 qualifications in Childcare.<br />
You may also move on to an apprenticeship or<br />
employment in the Care industry.<br />

Entry requirements<br />
• 2 GCSEs at grade 3 (D) or above, including English.<br />
or<br />
A full Level 1 at Pass grade, plus a GCSE grade 3<br />
(D) or above in English.<br />
• A positive attitude and a keen interest in caring<br />
for others.<br />
• You will have an interview and further assessment<br />
to check the course is right for you.<br />
About the course<br />
As you develop the personal skills and qualities you<br />
need for the sector, this course is a great starting<br />
point if you would like to become a health or social<br />
worker.<br />
The range of topics include human lifespan<br />
development, health & social care values, promoting<br />
health & wellbeing, the impact of nutrition on health<br />
& wellbeing, equality & diversity in health & social<br />
care, individual rights in health & social care, human<br />
body systems & care of disorders, and services in<br />
health & social care.<br />
There are two externally set assessments which<br />
you will take in January or May. You will also have<br />
the opportunity to study GCSE maths and English.<br />
You may be required to attend a work experience<br />
placement during the year.<br />
Your future<br />
On successful completion of the course, you could<br />
progress to the Health & Social Care Level 3 course,<br />
or on to an apprenticeship in Health & Social Care<br />
or Childcare. You could also use the skills and<br />
experience you have gained to find employment in<br />
the Care industry.<br />
