Adult Care Worker
Level 2 Apprenticeship
Course length: 15 months | Code: 5802
Entry requirements
• You should be at least 16 years old.
• A job as an apprentice in a Health & Social Care
setting for a minimum of 30 hours a week (this
will include one day in College per week).
• You must pass an initial assessment in English
& maths.
• You will have an interview.
• A clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check
at the start of the course.
About the course
This apprenticeship prepares you for work in Health
& Social Care roles such as Support Worker or Care
Assistant. You need to enjoy supporting others, have
a responsible attitude and be committed. You will
complete the Care Certificate, a Level 2 Diploma in
Care and a self-reflection task at the end of your
programme, which will be submitted to the End Point
Assessor to prepare for your professional discussion.
Please note, unless you already have grades 9-4 (A-
C) in maths and English, you will need to study up to
Level 2 in these subjects.
Your future
After your apprenticeship, you could secure work and
progress within your chosen career in adult social
care.
Lead Adult Care Worker
Level 3 Apprenticeship
Course length: 21 months | Code: 5803
Entry requirements
• You must be 18 years or over.
• An apprenticeship vacancy in a Health & Social
Care setting for a minimum of 30 hours a week
(this will include one day in College per week).
• A minimum of 1 year’s relevant industry
experience and/or a Level 2 qualification in Health
& Social Care.
• You must pass an initial assessment in English
& maths.
• You will have an interview.
• A clear Disclosure and Barring Service DBS check
at the start of the course.
About the course
You will care for individuals with specific needs
including disabled or elderly people, or those with
learning disabilities. You will help plan support needs
to enable them to live fulfilling lives. This care can
include helping a person to get dressed or assisting
them with their shopping. This course prepares
you for a role as a senior support worker or senior
care assistant. You will need to complete the Care
Certificate, a Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care and a selfreflection
task in your last month. You will also need
to pass the End Point Assessment and a multiple
choice test.
Your future
After your apprenticeship, you can study a course at
college or university, such as a Higher Apprenticeship
or use the skills you have developed and the
experience you have gained at work to progress
further in your job role/career, potentially in to
management.
