Entry requirements
• 2 GCSEs at grade 3 (D), to include English. Maths
must be at grade 2 (E) or above.

A full Level 1 at Pass grade, plus a GCSE grade 3
(D) or above in English.

About the course
Develop your knowledge of sport and focus on how
to help yourself and others improve as athletes. Take
part in a range of sports including football, cricket,
tennis, basketball and volleyball. Build technical skills
and tactical awareness through modules such as
practical sport, planning and leading sports activities,
organising coaching sessions and tournaments. You
also learn about the anatomy and physiology of an
athlete. Visit a range of sport organisations including
the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield and local
sports centres.
You will be required to buy recommended College
sportswear as well as a football kit, boots and
trainers. You are expected to make a contribution to
the cost of organised tours or visits relating to the
course.
Your future
On successful completion of the course, you could
progress to the Sport BTEC Level 3, or use the skills
and experience you have gained to find employment
in leisure centres, sports clubs or fitness centres.
Entry requirements
• 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English
& maths. If you do not have grade 4 (C) or above in both
subjects, the minimum for the other subject is grade 3 (D).

A full Level 2 at Pass grade or above with maths &
English grades equivalent to those stated above.
Students with grade 3 (D) in either English or maths will be
expected to re-take that subject in Year 1.
About the course
Gain a solid grounding in the skills needed for a
career in the sports industry. Participate in different
sports and study a wide range of areas including
sport psychology, working with children, fitness
testing and sports coaching, focusing on the
technical and tactical awareness of the athlete in
sport. You are encouraged to be reflective - looking
at your own performance, setting personal targets,
monitoring & evaluating an action plan to improve
performance. You will also gain valuable work
experience as part of this course.
You will be required to buy recommended College

After the course, you can study at college or
university at a higher level, or use the skills and
experience you have gained to progress further in
