Entry requirements<br />

• 2 GCSEs at grade 3 (D), to include English. Maths<br />

must be at grade 2 (E) or above.<br />

or<br />

A full Level 1 at Pass grade, plus a GCSE grade 3<br />

(D) or above in English.<br />

• Attend ‘taster’ sessions to find out more about<br />

the course.<br />

• Have an interview and further assessment to<br />

check the course is right for you.<br />

About the course<br />

Develop your knowledge of sport and focus on how<br />

to help yourself and others improve as athletes. Take<br />

part in a range of sports including football, cricket,<br />

tennis, basketball and volleyball. Build technical skills<br />

and tactical awareness through modules such as<br />

practical sport, planning and leading sports activities,<br />

organising coaching sessions and tournaments. You<br />

also learn about the anatomy and physiology of an<br />

athlete. Visit a range of sport organisations including<br />

the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield and local<br />

sports centres.<br />

You will be required to buy recommended <strong>College</strong><br />

sportswear as well as a football kit, boots and<br />

trainers. You are expected to make a contribution to<br />

the cost of organised tours or visits relating to the<br />

course.<br />

Your future<br />

On successful completion of the course, you could<br />

progress to the Sport BTEC Level 3, or use the skills<br />

and experience you have gained to find employment<br />

in leisure centres, sports clubs or fitness centres.<br />

Entry requirements<br />

• 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above, including English<br />

& maths. If you do not have grade 4 (C) or above in both<br />

subjects, the minimum for the other subject is grade 3 (D).<br />

A full Level 2 at Pass grade or above with maths &<br />

English grades equivalent to those stated above.<br />

Students with grade 3 (D) in either English or maths will be<br />

expected to re-take that subject in Year 1.<br />

About the course<br />

Gain a solid grounding in the skills needed for a<br />

career in the sports industry. Participate in different<br />

sports and study a wide range of areas including<br />

sport psychology, working with children, fitness<br />

testing and sports coaching, focusing on the<br />

technical and tactical awareness of the athlete in<br />

sport. You are encouraged to be reflective - looking<br />

at your own performance, setting personal targets,<br />

monitoring & evaluating an action plan to improve<br />

performance. You will also gain valuable work<br />

experience as part of this course.<br />

Your future<br />

After the course, you can study at college or<br />
