Entry requirements<br />

• 4 GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above.<br />

• Maths GCSE at grade 4 (C) or above.<br />

• English GCSE must be at least grade 3 (D).<br />

• You will have an initial assessment to<br />

demonstrate your interest and skills in<br />

networking.<br />

About the course<br />

During your two years, and with close working<br />

relationships with Employers, you’ll have a core year<br />

and a specialist year.<br />

In your core year, you’ll learn how to use digital<br />

technologies to analyse and solve problems, learn<br />

about digital environments, including physical, virtual<br />

and cloud environments, study the technical, physical<br />

and human aspects of internet security and learn<br />

about software, hardware and data.<br />

In your specialist year, you’ll learn about the digital<br />

security of an organisation and its data, the physical<br />

and virtual environments in greater depth and about<br />

developing your research capabilities to underpin<br />

your problem solving work in this much in demand<br />

discipline.<br />

Industry placement<br />

You will also have 45-60 days in an external industry<br />

placement with an employer, which will ensure that<br />

you develop and deepen your technical knowledge<br />

and skills, as well as behaviours appropriate for a<br />

digital support services technician.<br />

Your future<br />

The employer who provides your industry placement<br />

may offer you work opportunities or alternatively a<br />

reference. This will help you secure a university place,<br />

employment or an Apprenticeship.<br />

About the course<br />

impact business and market environments, how<br />

to use data in software design, how to use digital<br />

technologies to analyse and solve problems and<br />

will use digital tools for project management and<br />

knowledge and skills of a data technician including<br />

how to source, organise and format data for<br />

analysis purposes, how to analyse data to support<br />

business purposes plus how to interpret data and<br />

communicate the results.<br />
