An Exciting 2019 Ahead
I believe the start of each year marks the
end of the past and signals new beginnings,
allowing us another chance to reset and
aim for personal growth. The same goes
for the dental industry which connues to
evolve, develop and expand year aer year.
In the field of orthodoncs, for example,
there are numerous techniques and
appliances that are being innovated and
introduced to praconers all year round.
My interview with Dr. Vandana Katyal, a
Sydney-based orthodontist, can help us
understand her thoughts on upcoming
digital trends and popular innovaons such
as clear aligners and Dental Monitoring (DM)
(pages 18-20). Addionally, Dr. Kevin Ng,
one of Dental Asia’s Advisory Board
members, also talked about the
Nuvola clear aligner system which is
considered a “Disruptive Innovation”
product in the market (pages 37-39).
Likewise, we have also seen many disrupve
technologies in other fields of denstry
that have helped confer many benefits to
both users and praconers. For one, the
Integro Pro Ambidextrous accommodates
the unique needs of le-handed dental
practitioners (pages 26-27). Also,
Sirona CONNECT allows for the full
integraon of CEREC into a dental pracce
and dental laboratories as discussed by
Dr. Alexander Völcker, Dentsply Sirona’s
Group Vice President Digital (pages 28-30).
Aside from Dentsply Sirona, exocad
also made headlines with its first
ever exocad Insights in Germany. We
spoke to Mr. Tillmann Steinbrecher,
Chief Execuve Officer, and Mr. Novica Savic,
Chief Commercial Officer from exocad
about the latest soware soluons and
advantages of an open-architecture
system (pages 26-27). The exocad Insights
event turned out to be a success, fully
supported by praconers and a number
of the company’s leading partners
(pages 70-71).
2018 has been a wonderful year for
Dental Asia and we are expecng 2019
to be even more exciting with
IDS (International Dental Show), the
world’s biggest dental show happening
in March, and other upcoming events
in the region (page 73). Finally, we
