ARGENTINA WINES
Friday, October 15
Every week, the Exit Zero crew goes for lunch (or dinner or,
maybe even on occasion, breakfast) at one of Cape May’s
excellent dining establishments. Everything is totally different
on the food landscape these days, but in the interests of
the public, we are still venturing out there and enjoying the
victuals provided by local eateries.
The place: Fins Bar and Grille — the large, navy building on the
corner of Carpenters Lane and Decatur Street.
The vibe: It was a calm afternoon at Fins but a delightful experience
when we ran inside to grab our food. Music played throughout
the dining room, laughs were shared, and everyone seemed genuinely
happy to be there. The uplifting atmosphere was both inviting and
refreshing after the last few dreary days we’ve had in Cape May.
The crew: Cassidy and Kenny have been with Fins since day one
and a new Fins server Bobby Jo recently came back into the restaurant
business. They told us how much they miss the friendly faces of their
local bar crowd and can’t wait for things to return to normal. Everyone
is actually looking forward to the summer parking battle along
the Washington Street Mall.
The summer set up: Thankfully, most of the outdoor-dining
setups for local restaurants creatively introduced last year will stick
around another summer. Fins’ dining tent along Decatur Street will
remain open and they will offer limited indoor dining as they are
allowed along with takeout.
The food: Jack wasted no time deciding what he’d like and went
with the Mediterranean salad and, as always, added some grilled
chicken. The season of Lent has begun — no meat for Nicole on Fridays
until Easter — so she opted for the fish tacos. Cathrine went with
the same. They were both surprised to find French fries came with
their lunch. We had no idea so we consider it a healthy-ish lunch — it
wouldn’t be right to waste them...
The takeaway: It’s looking like Cape May will have an exciting
summer that is just as safe and accommodating as the last. Despite
the challenges we’ve faced, the crew at Fins remains positive and
excited to get back to long days, longer nights and the great people
who keep them running all season long. Fins is currently open
Wednesday through Monday for takeout and limited indoor dining.
