Hello,
I would like to take a moment to introduce our organization, The Dresses and
Dreams Project, which is a non-profit (501c3) organization that is volunteer run
benefiting women and girls with hardships or challenging circumstances. Our
vision is to provide a safe place to learn about love, identity, healthy relationships,
and spirituality; as well as provide resources for healing, life issues, and a pathway
to breaking the cycle and living out one’s life’s purpose.
The Dresses and Dreams Project, formerly known as Operation Prom Girl, provides
formal gowns to teen girls, military women, and those with special needs, such as with Tim Tebow’s “A Night to
Shine” event. Our organization has already given away over 1,200 dresses and has an inventory of over 1,700 formal
gowns.
We are so much more than a dress, as The Dresses and Dreams Project offers guidance, mentorship, resources,
referrals, and workshops to help women and girls who are survivors of trauma, abuse, domestic violence, and
other circumstances. We currently host a workshop entitled “Love Shouldn’t Hurt,” which educates participants
to the characteristics of abuse, understanding a healthy relationship verses a toxic one, and how to seek help. We
also offer vision board workshops to help participants imagine their futures and set goals. In the future, we plan
to offer workshops for suicide awareness/prevention, human trafficking awareness/prevention, and alcohol/drug
addiction education.
In May, we will be holding a “Bless a Grad” event where we will be giving 50 senior girls from the class of 2021 a
formal gown and goody bag. The gowns have been donated by community members, Macy’s, and other clothing
retailers. The goody bags will consist of cosmetics, nail polish, jewelry, gift cards, and hair accessories. Most of
our recipients are foster children or girls with financial hardships. This event will also offer the girls a free photo
session with one free portrait.
Our organization’s volunteers and Board members consist of community members who dedicate their valuable
time and money to help those in need. Our founder and some volunteers know from experience the type of circumstances
these girls and women face, which helps them be empathetic and compassionate.
As our mission statement claims, we are “empowering vulnerable teen girls and women to make their hopes and
dreams a reality…”
During the last year with the pandemic, we did not receive many donations or funding from grants. That is why
we need your help! We are at the end of our funds, therefore, we have been holding several fundraising events to
save our dresses. With your donation, you could help save our organization!
We recently developed a sponsorship program for your tax-deductible donation. If you contribute $25 or less,
you become a Pearl Sponsor and we will honor you with a certificate of appreciation and social media recognition.
If you contribute $150 or more, you will be an Emerald Sponsor and will also receive a t-shirt with our logo
and free advertising on our social media sites. If your donation is $500 or more, you will be our Ruby Sponsor. In
addition to the previously mentioned, you will be sponsoring a table for eight girls at our annual Operation Prom
Girl event. We will place a placard on the table promoting your sponsorship, as well as presenting you with a VIP
award. Our Diamond Sponsorship is for those who donate $1,000 or more. All the previously mentioned are given,
but you will also be sponsoring two tables for 16 girls at our annual event!
