Lady is inspired by the great style icons - Coco<br />
Chanel, the Duchess of Windsor, Diana Vreeland<br />
and many others. Charming, witty, intelligent, they<br />
created unique personal styles, with European,<br />
Latin, Oriental influences. Roberto’s Lady wears<br />
a necklace with eyes protecting and blessing and<br />
her overlapping faces speak to her ambiguous<br />
personality. Lady is a rich and evocative work,<br />
her elongated face with brilliant eyes echoing<br />
the sensuous elegance of Modiligiani, who was<br />
deeply impressed with the Egyptian sculptures in<br />
the Louvre which he transalated into his unique<br />
idiom, but the background of the young Leonardo<br />
Da Vinci’s brilliant paintings ‘<strong>The</strong> Annunciation’<br />
and the ‘Madonna of the Rocks’, brings to mind the<br />
most famous of all faces of ambiguity - the Mona<br />
Lisa. <strong>The</strong> exquisite confluence of past and present<br />
gives Lady a mysterious and mystical resonance.
