Opening Back Up

For the past year, I have been mostly in
my house and protecting myself from the
possible ravages of Covid-19. I have now been
fully vaccinated and as I write this, the CDC
announced that those who have been
fully vaccinated are
no longer required to
wear masks indoors or
outdoors. Great news.
The price that has been paid, at
least by me, has been staying home
and not doing all the things I like to do. And as The Vegas Voice travel
editor, the thing that I like to do the most is travel.
It was therefore with great anticipation that Sharon and I made
plans to get back to Vegas last month. It had been over one year.
I admit I was a bit leery. All that TV talk seemed to show only the bad
behavior people were exhibiting when traveling. You know - all those
confrontations on airplanes, hotels and stores between mask wearing
folks and those
who didn’t want to.
People who weren’t
social distancing,
and those who were.
Now I do not
like confrontation,
and I did not want
to be a part of any
uncomfortable
m o m e n t s .
Nevertheless, with
Publisher Dan and
his Rana, Sharon
and I travelled to the
Grand Canyon and
Sedona.
And what a
wonderful trip we
had. We did not
experience one moment of bad conduct on any of the flights we took,
in any of the hotels we stayed, or any of the restaurants we patronized.
Everyone was “working and playing well with others.”
Everyone complied with the rules. Our vacation was fantastic. Sedona
and the red rocks were majestic. The South Rim of the Grand Canyon
together with a trip on the Grand Canyon Railroad was wonderful.
The country is opening back up. It appears that people are traveling
responsibly and, if current trends continue, we will be back to normal.
Our first Vegas Voyagers Bus to the Boat is scheduled for February
21-28, 2022 on the Royal Caribbean Navigator of the Seas. And space
is filling fast.

Scams of the Month
Once again, Publisher Dan was targeted
by a scammer. You have to admit that at
first glance it looked legit.
When he called the 800 number he was told
that to cancel the order he needed to give them
some “basic” information, including bank
account number and Social Security number.
Luckily, he wasn’t that stupid.

One More Thing
Is it really a scam if you “don’t believe them in the first place.” Last
month Sharon Cooper and our Rana, while visiting Sedona went to a
psychic for a reading.
They knew it wasn’t real when they were told that they were indeed
very lucky to have their respective husband and PILL.
Publisher Dan couldn’t stop laughing and insisted that the “very
lucky” women have their photo taken with Madame Zelda. But the
real joke was on Dan – he paid for the session.
