Doing More With Less

As I reflect on the past year we just survived, I think about those
who use the expression “the new normal.” For The Foundation
Assisting Seniors, there is nothing new about the needs in the senior
community, except they are growing exponentially.
Just a few short years ago we publicized the number of incidents
where we assisted with loans of durable medical equipment and
maintenance requests—280,000. Our most recent tally surpassed
360,000, an increase of nearly 30 percent.
I wonder how many companies could handle a 30 percent increase
in business without hiring additional employees, increasing production
capacity, and enhancing their quality checks to be sure they could serve
their customers at the same standard of service to which they’d become
accustomed.
The Foundation had to do more with less during the covid hiatus. Yet
we just completed a successful Memorial Day Golf Tournament due to
the dedication of volunteers, with more coming aboard every day. We
are grateful for them.
Thankfully, new sponsors have emerged, and some have increased
their financial support. The work could not be done without them.
If you share our concern about meeting the needs of seniors in our
area, we encourage you to get involved. Volunteers are needed for office
work, DME maintenance and delivery, fundraising and marketing.
The work does not take a summer vacation, so we are also grateful
for your financial support. Don’t forget to buy your tickets to The Gala,
to be held on October 16 at the M Resort.
