What can be done?<br />
First of all, a correct diagnosis is needed,<br />
it is important to exclude a possible<br />
herniated disc as the cause of our pain.<br />
With the correct questioning <strong>and</strong> manual<br />
tests applied by your therapist.<br />
Once the piriformis syndrome is<br />
confirmed there are three things that<br />
need treating:<br />
• The active trigger points associated<br />
with the muscle.<br />
• Any shortening of the muscle.<br />
• The assessment of what is causing it<br />
to spasm or shorten.<br />
With treatment we experience very<br />
good results, although recovery time<br />
varies due to several factors (longevity of<br />
injury, specific cause of injury, etc)<br />
As always it is best to be assessed by a<br />
professional to help get you on the mend<br />
as soon as possible.<br />
