- It’s no use, that fridge.
- What’s the matter with it?
- It’s so full. I can’t get another thing in it.
- You mean you haven’t used all the food I’ve
been giving you?
- I put it in the fridge, like you tell me - but it
gets stocked up, and you wrap everything
so it all looks the same. I don’t know what’s
in there.
- So what do you do when you want a meal?
- I put a frozen one in the microwave. Like
Spaghetti Bolognese.
- That’s good. So you’ve still got frozen
meals?
- I think there’s 3 in the Cold Box.
- Cold box?
-Ah. You don’t remember the Cold Box, do
you? It was in the garage. Blue and white.
Big handle. We used to take it on picnics
when you were little. And to the beach -
full of cold drinks. That’s what it’s for - to
keep things cold.
- Yes, I know, dad. So you’re using the cold
box.
- I don’t use the fridge anymore. And the
door of the freezer compartment is frozen
shut, so I don’t know what’s in there.
- So, how do you freeze the blue things?
- What blue things?
- The blue things with liquid in that you
freeze before you them in the cold box.
- You’re not listening to me, are you? It’s food
I put in the Cool Box - not plastic things.
I keep it on the stool in the kitchen, so it’s
just the right height to reach into without
me bending.
- Whatever makes you happy, dad.
- I would’ve thought you’d be
congratulating me. This virus isn’t all
negative, you know. Look at how well I’ve
learned to look after myself while we’ve been
in lockdown.
- Well done, dad. Keep up the good work.

HAPPY 90th
BIRTHDAY SAM
Sam born in 1931 in Peterborough
has 2 daughters Julie and Joanna
did 2 years National Service but
was a bit of a rebel. Played football for
Peterborough been part of Masonic
lodge for many years and a great golfer.
Had pubs in England before coming to
Calpe and buying a restaurant.
However, I, Carol Levey, has
personally known Sam for many years
and he joined the Harlequin Group
and was involved with comedy acts in
the show with his friend Brian (the pie
man). It was always a laugh a minute
when Sam and Brian got together and
their act, which was often made up
on stage was hilarious. He was also
involved with other group acts in the
Harlequin shows.
He has lived in Calpe for many years
and his daughter Julie grew up with my
daughter Lee.
So from all your friends in Calpe,
your daughters and of course from my
daughter Lee that was in the shows
with you and from me Carol and the
Harlequin Group Happy 90th Birthday
to young Sam.
