• You must work in a group of
three.
• You must rule squares on a
Bee-Bot mat. You need to
include 16 squares in a
4 x 4 array. First you need to
fold the mat into half, then
quarters, then eights, then
sixteenths.
• You must make drawings
and write labels (and other
details if room) of all the
different stages in the life of
a living thing you have
learnt about—a plant,
mammal, human,
frog or insect.

The problem
You need a new Bee-Bot mat to teach other classes about living
things.
The task
You have to choose a living thing, find out and record information
about what a living thing looks like as it grows, and use the
information to create a Bee-Bot mat.
Important things you need to do!
• You must use the materials
provided (cardboard or vinyl
square, coloured permanent
markers, short ruler, long ruler,
Bee-Bot).
• You must write a program for
the Bee-Bot that moves it to
the correct squares on the
mat, following the life stages
in the correct order.
